Target Archery Equipment

Compound Bow

  • A bow using cams and pulleys to grant the user a mechanical advantage.
  • Disadvantage more moving parts and heavier.

Recurve Bow

  • A bow where the limbs are curved away when unstrung.
  • Advantage – Faster follow up shots, simple design, and lighter.
  • Disadvantage – Require more force to maintain draw.

Compound Bow Sights

Single Pin Bow Sight

  • A sight with a single pin.
  • Sight must be adjusted for proper distance.

Multi Pin Bow Sight

  • A sight with up to 7 pins for varying distances
  • Sights can be fixed or adjustable.

Archery Distances and Target Size

Indoor Compound Bow

  • Target distance: 18m
  • Target size: 10cm diameter
  • Center ring: 4cm diameter.
  • 10x ring: 2cm diameter (used for tie breakers).
  • Some competitions hitting an arrow does not count, all arrows must touch the target.
