- Most satisfying removals and most memorable.
Safety Precautions
- The Remover puts on respirator and asbestos suit.
- The whole asbestos removal area is put in containment using 6mm thick poly.
- The containment is then kept under negative pressure.
Asbestos Insulation Removal
- Asbestos is removed by hand or with a specialized vacuum.
- Asbestos is double bagged in 6mm thick bags.
- The asbestos removal is finished off by using a HEPA vacuum to get all the small particles.
- Anytime you exit the containment you have to go through the Asbestos Decontamination Unit.
Asbestos Decontamination Unit
Dirty Room
- Keep respirator on
- Take off asbestos suit.
- HEPA vacuum yourself and anything that will exit containment.
Shower
- Wash off bags filled with asbestos.
- Shower off with your respirator on.
Once Clean
- Remove respirator, wash face, and hands.
Clean Room
- Make sure the respirator is clean.
- Dry off, put on clothes.
Special Considerations
- Continue to monitor negative pressure in containment, pressure changes as asbestos is removed from containment.
- All water must be put through a micron filter before being disposed of.
- Respirator must seal on face (facial hair should be removed prior).
- Make sure to stay hydrated (to eat or drink you must exit containment and use the asbestos decontamination unit).
Asbestos Exposure Risk
Asbestosis
- Inhalation over time can cause shortness of breath and lung damage
Mesothelioma
- Cancer of the mesothelial tissue.
- Shortness of breath, painful coughing, and chest pain.
